This ride is to Escort 11-year-old Wyatt to Sea Quest in Layton. The ride is free.
Wyatt is a 2x brain cancer fighter.
Wyatt was diagnosed at 7 years old, January 4th, 2021, with a Ganglioneuroblastoma. The tumor covered the whole right side of his brain. Wyatt's' first diagnosis was that he had 2 tumor resections, 7 rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant, 6 weeks of full brain and spine Proton radiation, and 1 round of Gamma knife radiation. Wyatt's recovery through each cycle was closely monitored in the patient for up to 30 days each cycle. Because the Huntmans in Salt Lake did not have their Proton center up yet, we had to travel to Seattle, Washington, for 8 weeks. Wyatt healed and thrived from February of 2022 to August of 2023. Wyatt relapsed in August of 2023. Wyatt started out with a tumor resection and 6 weeks of Proton therapy. In December of 2023, we started chemotherapy. Wyatt has had 5 out of 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Wyatt has had a lot of complications on this journey. In June, Wyatt was to finish his last cycle of chemo but couldn't due to an infection he caught that turned into meningitis. Wyatt officially got to ring the bell after infection recovery and is now in the maintenance stage. Although Wyatt is done with chemo, he is still having a lot of complications. Wyatt was life-flighted to Primary Children's Hospital on 8/2/23 because of a seizure that had worsened daily. We still don't have answers, but over the next few weeks, we see a lot of hard decisions we have to make. Wyatt has been through a lot. He has overcome so many completions through chemo and the damage the cancer itself has done to his brain. Wyatt goes through all this hardship with a smile on his face and still has his sense of humor. Wyatt likes to see the positive in all of this and puts his faith that he will beat this cancer and live a long, healthy life. Wyatt is Wyatt Strong.
If you know him, you love him. If you have met him, you are hooked! On that pure heart, sassy mouth, and smile of his.
He would give or do anything for anyone just to see a person happy. He loves his family and has the biggest spot in his already big heart for so many of them, especially the ones who have fought so hard right along with him. He sees who’s been there for him—and who has been the whole time! Before and during cancer.
He has had to fight so hard these last few years and has always had a smile, smart-ass comment, and sweet little giggle almost the entire time. He knows what he wants in life at just 11, and that shows just how outstanding he is yet again! Wyatt has so many dreams he deserves to fulfill.
Childhood Cancer is not rare! It’s not picky and bullies; so many sweet babies out of the life they truly deserve.
